Lap-dancing venues have hugely increased in number following implementation of the Licensing Act 2003 in November 2005. This study, lead by Dr Teela Sanders, Reader in Sociology (Crime and Deviance) at the University of Leeds and funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, will commence in early 2010. It will be the first major study in the UK to explore the regulation of lap-dancing and its place within the contemporary night-time economy.
